In Germany it is not allowed as well to pass in between two lanes.
Motorcyclists do it anyway from time to time, and I have done the same,
I must admit. But very carefully and slowly, 'cause I always expect
the worse like an opened door or just a friendly car driver pulling over
trying to stop you from passing him.
The greeting between motorcyclists over here is the same, mosty done by
pointing up the left hand or just one finger. Thats the cool version.
The best that ever happened to me was an oncoming motorcyclist who waved
at me trying to prevent me from going through gravel in the next curve.
